Iranian violinist shines in Armenia

Tehran, July 4, IRNA - Supervisor of Pasargad Orchestra Amin Ghaffari attended the 11th Aram Khachaturian International Competition in Armenia from June 6-14.

Ghaffari said that the festival is very strict in accepting the participants. He added that attending the festival is considered as a credit for each and every artist, Mehr News Agency reported.

Traditionally, the competition is characterized by the wide geography of its participants. But only 29 musicians from 17 countries are selected to take part in the first round of the competition, he noted.

Representatives from France, Italy, UK, China, South Korea, Germany, Lebanon and the US competed in this edition of the Armenian festival.

The orchestra leader was introduced as the best group in competition section of the 30th Fajr International Music Festival, Ghaffari said.

He said that although after the Fajr International Music Festival, he received a lot of proposals to perform, simultaneous performance with Iran’s National Orchestra and Tehran Symphony Orchestra’s activities required an organized and logical plan. He said that “meanwhile, we intend to release the last year’s orchestra’s concert held in Roudaki Hall in an audio-visual album”. Last year’s concert revolved around works of Baroque period, he said.

The Aram Khachaturian International Competition has been held in Yerevan each year since 2003 from June 6-14.
